We all know that there is no greater way to improve your business than by "doing", but a close second has to be learning vicariously through another expert and their experience. With so many "experts" out there, it's hard not to end up with an overwhelming inbox which only results in using the delete button like an automatic shotgun once you've signed up to the hundredth "list", "webinar" or "must-have".
There are however, a few blogs & articles I never delete and always know I'll get good value from.
Note: I have a clear-up every couple of months and "unsubscribe" to those emails which no longer serve me (it's easy to manage if you type unsubscribe in your search bar which brings up all your subscribed to emails - you'll be amazed what you've signed up to)!
If you're looking for inspiration on how to continue to improve your business, here is a list of amazing people that I follow, listen to or engage with to keep me inspired and motivated in my business.
Even if your business is not currently about passive income, it absolutely can be (with affiliate links for example) and in these weekly podcasts, Pat interviews a variety of entrepreneurs who can give you ideas about how to improve your customer service, social media engagement and a unique way of looking at business. Plus, it's a podcast so I tend to listen on my way to work or strolling round the supermarket.
I think Marie is just awesome. She decided to be a hip hop dancer at 25 which gives you some idea of her energy (aside from her New Jersey roots). She gives just a pinch of woo woo with great practical advice and a new take on seemingly negative circumstances and experiences. If you have not seen her video on how to value your work as a creative, watch it here. It's one of the best I've seen.
Carrie Green - The Female Entrepreneur Association - online membership site
Carrie Green started the FEA in 2011 and it now has almost 3500 members online. It's greatest asset is connecting like minded members with each other and sharing experience and skills in a safe environment where interaction is encouraged and valued. The membership area only opens a couple of times each year (but you can sign-up to a waiting list) and if you're serious about growing your business, I highly recommend it. It has video bundles you can access, done by some of the best in the business (graphics, blogging, webinars etc.)
Lisa runs an excellent group for creative entrepreneurs and encourages business owners to share their pages on all platforms with "Pinterest Thursday", "Friday Facebook" etc. The group has a huge amount of engagement and is a great resource for small creative business owners.
Vanessa Horn - Facebook Page
Vanessa Horn is a marketing expert and can give a new perspective about how to create additional income streams. I encourage all of my clients to find additional income streams to their "main" business because it allows them to remain doing what they love with less of the financial pressure.
I also belong to many (many) Facebook groups which gives me insight into how other people are solving problems similar to mine and also allows me to add value to those members by offering solutions to issues they are currently experiencing. I encourage you to do the same (or set up your own). Groups are a safe place for you to share your ideas, challenges and wins and are often a far more positive and engaging experience than a business/fan page. If you're not already a member of the Play to Profit Facebook Group, pop over now and join us.
So, how do you continue to improve your business? Let me know your "go-to" experts and how they inspire you!
Until next time, keep creating!
